Paula always dreamed of a rustic barn wedding and fell in love with Mount Druid when Trevor brought her there for a romantic weekend. Little did she know she was staying at the venue where she would get engaged and later marry. Paula explains how the proposal went....."We had a little BBQ and went for a walk
around the grounds, we came across a tin barn and Trevor brought me in, it was
little chapel. He joked “will we check this place out?” I couldn't contain my
excitement when I saw it, it was just perfect. I sat down at the top of the aisle and
said "well if you were to ever ask me this is the venue of my dreams…”
with that I turned around and there he was down on one knee with a token ring
and said "why do you think I brought you here, this is where we’re getting
married..." and popped the question! I was speechless, when we got back to
our yurt there was champagne waiting for us. We sat by the campfire in our own
little world for the night. The next day we booked the wedding and then I was
whisked off to Dubai for my beautiful ring."
"Our wedding
represented both of our personalities perfectly. We always wanted a very
relaxed feel to the day and the minute we found Mount Druid we knew that they
could offer this. It was DIY wedding at the forefront and we made sure we
involved as many friends and family to make it as personal as we could. We made
sure everyone was well fed and entertained throughout the day with an abundance
of amazing musicians (all close friends) and beautiful music. There wasn’t a
dull moment."
Paula's advice for future brides:
When you get
engaged make a note to yourself of the things that are most important to you at
that moment in time. Don’t let yourself
get wrapped up in all the hype and fuss that goes along with weddings and if
you find yourself getting stressed over something, just look back at the note
you wrote to yourself and you will soon be grounded again. At the end of the
day the most important element of all this is the fact that you’re marrying the
love of your life and your best friend and nothing else matters. And just enjoy
the whole process, you don’t want to have any regrets afterwards, it’s the most
exciting and fun time of your lives together so far.
